Azzurra Galatolo, Aaron Lelito

SLOW SYSTEM

Aaron Lelito

Envision the ceremony

of rubbing wings together

hearing the emptiness

of shape

subtracted

from space.

Enter a refuge

that absorbs its own intensity

protects the tenderness

of sound in time:

a hollow horn

an empty shell.

Breaths blown through

these beating lips

when king ram

and queen conch

descend from the cliff

and dry upon the strand

when they return to us

when they return alive.
