though she be but little, she is fierce!
At The Winged Moon we love daring and experimental writing that seeks to explore the intersections of the human experience, ecology, metaphysics, spirituality and folklore. We embrace work which is transcendent in quality, which pays tribute to our origins and heritage, whilst also having a meaningful stake in contemporary world concerns. We hope to showcase work which speaks from a place of embodiment – surreal writing and artworks which reimagine our complex relationships with the world, pushing against conventional boundaries of knowledge and philosophy. We also seek to publish work with a strong sense of place, that surveys the landscapes of belonging and displacement. In short, we believe the most incisive and timeless conversations are dialectic — interrogating both sides of a given theme to uncover deep truths. Visions which form the backbone and spirit of human existence, today —and in seasons to come.
We publish in print and online and with a distinct weekly substack offering, KIN. We invite art and passionate writing that touches us to the marrow. Words that echo in the readers mind, long after reading. We want words with bells, words that weep, weird words, soft words, words that snout, words full of ceremonies, vivid and particular. We would love for you to join us on this journey…
Your work will be read by our Contributing Editors Victoria Spires, Vikki C and Marcelle Newbold with the final edit and choices made by our EIC Jai Michelle Louissen.
And as of 2025, we are paying our contributors 20 euro, this means our issues will be smaller and will be added to another issue to be printed every second or third round.
We also nominate for Best in The Net, Pushcart and Orison Best Spiritual Literature prizes
